Sites and sounds: David Patman
David has been involved in producing performance
and visual arts events since co-founding the Grey Area Inc
artist-run studio and gallery space in Melbourne in 1995.
On moving to Hobart in 1997 with his partner he established
and managed the FOYER gallery, the first space in Hobart devoted
exclusively to conceptual and installation art.
Davids interest in exotica, lounge, deep
funk and sound library music led to a weekly DJ gig "Go-Go
Pops". He also initiated WAX, an ongoing series of variety-style
events designed to provide a platform for local musicians
and performers to experiment with new work.
While in Hobart, David occupied the position
of treasurer with the Hobart Fringe Festival and also served
on the board of the Salamanca Theatre Company (now IS Theatre
Ltd). On returning to Melbourne to complete his PhD studies,
he continued to work as "DJ Master Bedroom" and
has co-conceived a number of FAD events.
